Palliative care and grief support groups are where this art-magic unfolds with ease. I have found life's greatest lessons while sharing space, art and conversation with humans in their most sacred timeframes... It is here, on the doorsteps to unknown, that we connect with each other as strangers on the deepest of level
Vibrations from within have power and potential when we allow ourselves to take note of our breath and feel the air escape us with intention.
Rhythm and beats are internally created naturally and the body responds to this organically... if given the opportunity, it can move mountains of blocked emotion.
Chiming bells start and end scenes or little moments we create. Tunes from yesteryear have the ability to bring us backwards to memories and stir up images that sooth the longing soul and string us together with each note.
REMEMBERING OWL:
A ten page, vibrantly fingerpainted book that tells the short story of a death in the forest. Creatures reflect together and consider different ways of viewing a loss and moving forward naturally. Non directional and openminded approach to conversation on a tricky subject.
author/illustrator: Deborah Stapleford
DREAMING OF OWL:
The second book in a "dealing with death through artwork" series. Meant as a tool to open conversation about dreams of the deceased.
author: Dr Joshua Black
illustrator: Deborah Stapleford
